Re: Bismarck deck details

Hi there. The only thing I can add to this thread is not to get bogged down by details. You might find that there is just too much to do on a ship of that scale. I was doing great at first with mine, I got her at the IPMS Nats on Telford 2008 and gave myself a month to complete her...2009 and she's ...

Re: Advice needed on 1/350 Battleships

This is an interesting debate though I suppse it is preferences and availability. This will sound funny but I try to stay away from the "Big" names, though as my naval modelling interests are spread over a vast ocean of themes some subjects have to be done as that is the only choice and yo...

Re: Advice needed on 1/350 Battleships

Hi there. In my opinion I'd steer clear of Tamiya, most of their kits are dated and low on detail. I'm not a whinger about kits, some of my 48th aircaft have a long history, though they are either easy to super detail or convert. The Revell Bismarck is superb and with the BMK barrels, WE, GMM and Ed...

Re: 2011: Jutland movie!

If anyone must watch a Titanic film...A Night To Remember is the only version worth considering. I'm not too keen on the Cpt Lord side of it but it was going on known theories of the time. I just hate the way Cameron falls on stupid gimmicks and stereotypes and worst of all the major characters in t...

Re: What New/Remake War Movies Are Needed?

I really can't see the point in re-making a lot of films, they all have their place in History. Take The Battle Of The River Plate it is as perfect as we can hope for it's time and where else can you see real ships on film? Waterloo doesn't need a re-make unless we are going to alter History and hav...

Re: 2011: Jutland movie!

Also I hope to god they make James Cameron a producer for this movie cause he is probably the only guy who really pull this movie off, especially if they plan on producing full size replicas for production. Oh puurlease no. If it's Cameron we'll for sure have the Brits as stiff upper class villains...

Re: HMS Hood

Hi Martin. I've just looked in my anatomy of the hood and there is no mention in there about deck timber lengths.
Maybe someone on the Hood forum might know?
Good luck with your project.

Fiona

Thanks Vic. The advice is very useful I shall endeavour to heed your words.
I understand that a lot of modelling is compromise I just want to get her as good as I can.
Thanks again.

Re: Bismarck's Baltic Camoflage

I find there is conflicting notes on her paint scheme. On another site it suggests Bismarck during Rheinubung had her "stripes" painted out which all evidence as we know is correct. The Revell 1/350th shows this as well but this is where a conflict arises. The artwork shows that the dark g...

Thank you for all your comments. Now look what you've done! Oops. You can get me back when I fold another of my malted shreddies this week! I have the upperworks colour all over her at the moment, sorry I'm keeping with the tradition of calling all ships her, after all form what I can gather...

It's got to be BMK for me.
White Ensign Models supply them in the U.K I'm not sure who else does though.

Re: Bismarck trapped

And where the heck was the Luftwaffe? :? With a wind bag like Goring what do you expect? I can't think of a more usless person in charge. Simplisitc? My comments maybe but when you want total over all charge of everything that flies it's too much to control. The navy should have been in command of ...

Re: How did you come to be interested in Bismarck?

I have the Four Sqaure book it's got an ace cover with a reasonable drawing of Kenneth More in a duffel coat with some lurid artwork of the Bismarck and a Swordfish coming right at you! Luckliy for the reader it's already pent it's ordnance! Funny looking thing, the swordfish, not our Ken (serious c...
