Re: Japanese Victory at Midway
So to victory at Midway in your example does not include occupying it as a stepping stone to Hawaii. Here is the real problem. Japan didn't have to resources to win this war. They mistakenly thought the USA would role over. Remember from Admiral Yamamoto "I shall run wild considerably for the f...

Re: Japanese Victory at Midway
The Japanese fleet if Midway was taken would require that the ships be in constant motion burning fuel, if not they become targets for sub's looking for something to torpedo.

Re: Japanese Victory at Midway
They also are going to even be able to shuttle aircraft in and they cannot cover both Midway and Hawaii. The Japanese did have the equipment for major landing operations and are already spread thin. Here are quite a few military personnel in Hawaii. Even in winning Midway they will have losses and s...

Re: Japanese Victory at Midway
Just checked. Fighter escort could be done using islands to the west of Pearl Harbor such as French Frigate Shoals. I still think it is possible for the different islands to support each other in mutual defense with radar installed. Of course it was possible, but I don't know how probable. It takes...

Re: Japanese Victory at Midway
Even my silly response to all of this I don't think is even needed.
I think the logistics of it all would be it's undoing and even if not the USA has a lot of options.

Re: Own a part of the Tirpitz
Actually I wouldn't either for myself. I am a bit confused by the hostile sounding reactions. I come out here and mainly read. I did not come out here or join in order to sell product. I was out here reading many times after these became available. My thought was the post would be ignored but though...

Re: Own a part of the Tirpitz
Actually the Norwegian Government allowed it. Divers collected the material. The company is the large German Cutlery Giant Boker. The German government and the Norwegian Government are both well aware of this. I am not sure I approve of it but it has been done. The product is a folded steel knives m...

Own a part of the Tirpitz
I really don't like the idea of a piece of history becoming a product but many ships have been scrapped and this has already been done. There is a product being made from parts of the Tirpitz. These products are not cheap. Expect a price of around $615.00. I am a dealer for this company and when I s...

Re: Japanese Invasion US mainland
Google map it even today and get a satalite view. Many parts of Alaska still has no roads deep inland.
You will have mountains to cross, rivers to cross, forests to cross, marshy land to cross. I don't think an invader could do it then. Today it is difficult to do in many parts.

Re: Japanese Invasion US mainland
I don't think they would make it either. We would have had trouble moving equipment down to the our own lower 48 going across land as well. At that time it was easier to go by sea to more hospitable areas then go inland. That was not friendly territory at the time. How about keeping those vehicals f...

Re: Japanese Invasion US mainland
I don't think it could be done. I think the civilian population alone would be a tough nut to crack, even with so many serving outside the country. This is an armed socioty.

Re: Two KGV's vs. Yamato
The reason I came up with Reicheliu was I was thinking of the gun layout. Often subject to critical review. I started thinking this gun layout might be fantastic not for a ship that works alone but for one that works with others. It can pursue and fire with no masked guns. It just has trouble retrea...
