Re: DDG-51 class Hybrid propulsion RANGE?

I wasn't proposing this......I didn't make this up, the Navy is actually attempting to do this a simple Google search on DDG-51 HED will give you all the info... but no one is saying how much further the DDGs will go with HED (Hybrid electric drive) maybe not on the flight 3 Burke but definitely wit...

The standard DDG-51 class can go 4,400 nautical miles at 20 knots I was wondering with a 16% fuel saving with Hybrid.....how far will a hybrid equipped DDG-51 go on service turbine-generators at 15 knots ? ??? =========================...

New P-8A Poseidon Medium Aerial Torpedo

Just a thought...sorry for Necro-Posting but it seems to me Antishipping warheads from 500 to 1,000 lb really dont necessarily sinks ships outright.....but a Mk-48 warhead (650 lb PBXN-103 equivalent to 1,200 lb TNT) under the keel almost guarantees a sink/kill everytime...with the more robust [1] P...

Question on longitudinal STS bulkheads inside Iowas turrets

On 19 April 1989 inside one of the USS Iowa's 16" gun barrels, five 55 or 100 pound bags of D-846 powder blew up, a fireball 3,000°F with a pressure of 4,000 PSI blew out from the center gun's open breech, the explosion caved in the door between the center gun room and the turret officer's booth and...
