Hello, You will be much better off with the lighter color. If you look at an aerial photo how many darker decks have you seen? Weathering on wood tends to lighten the color especially if the deck was holy stoned by the crew. Basswood is the best to use and not real teak. Too much exposed open grain ...

Camber of Scharnhorst, Prinz Eugen, Bismarck

Doing a 1/100 scale model of Prinz Eugen and Scharnhorst. I know for example many American battleships had camber of appx. 7-9 inches in height at the center of the deck to the outer edge to allow water to run off. Anybody know what the German ships where?
