Re: Prinz Eugen stays with Bismarck

As I understand it, Tirpitz increased speed to 29kts and headed into a 35mph wind, forcing the Albacores to close at 60kts whle being all the time under gunfire from 105mm flak. The Swordfish was about 10% slower than the Albacore. So if it was difficult with the Albacores, guess with the older pla...

Re: should have the prinz eugen stayed with the bismarck ?

Condors and other long range aircraft would be patrolling and trying to spot them, giving their positions to lurking U-Boats, so it would be a very dangerous game to be playing, whilst hunting for an elusive foe who would be unlikely to be brought to battle. Talking about Condors, another myth of t...

Re: should have the prinz eugen stayed with the bismarck ?

It is beyond me how much time people like Vic Dale waste to write such excessive amounts of bullshit in forums. It is a pity that some people take their time (and ours) posting such comments. I find Vic's posts most educational and I truly admire his ability to see things "out of the box"...

What about her rangefinding equipment? Was it equivalent or, at least, close to the German or British counterparts?

Re: HMS Agincourt 1914 (Pictures)

Not building ships for foreign customers, with whom Germany could have gained some influence, was a major blunder on the Kaisers' part. That's true, especially if we take into view that Brazil already had a large population of German descendants by the beginning of the 20th century. SMS Von Der Tan...

Thanks, RF and Capitão Norbert, for your kind words.

The Revell kit is basically a well detailed one but there is a lot of room for improvements.

Best regards,

you can ask Sao Paulo crew about that [...] The point is when France stop use a ship, the normal reasonable next owner shall be a museum for almost all case! Gotcha !! So rather than sending it to a museum, you "pushed" it to a friendly country, promising it would be fully refurbished and...

Re: Brazil buys 50 helicopters, 5 submarines from France

Not to mention the São Paulo aircraft carrier (ex-Foch) which Brazil purchased from France to help patrol our vast coast. It has been spending more time on the dry dock than on the ocean. Bad deal ... :(

Re: Brazil buys 50 helicopters, 5 submarines from France

Rather unwarranted and overly harsh criticism of RR engines…. Specially when you consider that a RR engine (the Merlin) equipping so many Spitfires, P-51s and Lancasters, helped to freed France from the Nazi dominance ... :? Back to the Brazilian purchase, I can still hear my wife saying after we h...

Here in Costa Rica, and Central America, we are experiencing a lot of concern because of Lula´s involvement in Hondura´s Zelaya return. Dear Karl, you can be sure that even here only a few people is supporting this involvement (just a handful of Lula's party pals). I hope our people will give the a...

Re: Dragon models announces new 1/350th Scharnhorst

I think one of the major reasons why these ships are not being modeled much is because the United States and Japan were not that heavily involved with World War 1. These countries produce a lot of the high quality models or are their biggest markets. Thanks Kyler, that surely can be one of the reas...
