a) Weak stern, b) Not enough armour on the hull, c) Should have been equipped with more AA guns. The Tirpitz had more of them. d) Not much you can do about the jammed rudder from the torpedoattack. Rodney and KGV had fuel supply limitations as well. Lancasters were certainly not the planes to try and 'bomb it to bits'. Much more likely they would have killed a lot of fish within a few hundred yards of Bismarck, if even that close. The four engine bombers did not do well against surface ships o...

That plan would never materialise. Bismarck would probably be tracked again by reconnaissance aircrafts, as earlier. She could disappear for a while and hide from the British, but eventually the battle cruisers and King George and the Rodney would catch up with the Bismarck and force her to respond ...

Bismarck must have scored the fatal hit on Hood. She was first to make contact with the target. As mentioned earlier in the thred Prince Eugen did not claim the hit.

All seaworthy vessels are referred to "she", whether the boat is provided with a female or male name. I prefer she. Makes me think of the ship as the mother who protects its crew.

I think I discovered my infatuation for Bismarck after watching the movie "Sink the Bismarck". Perhaps it sounds slightly too obvious, but everyone starts somewhere.
