Jean Bart vs Roma
I think this would be a interesting matchup since both countries didn't seem to use their navies to its fullest ability what is the plan of attack if you commanded either ship?

Scharnhorst vs Alaska
I saw some good arguments on the Tirpitz and Bismarck vs The Yamato so lets try this one what is you plan of attack if your commanding the Scharnhorst and ordered to attack the Alaska. to make things interesting we can include if you were commanding the Alaska and ordered to attack the Scharnhorst. ...

Re: Bismarck and Tirpitz vs Yamato
Interesting comments about the firepower and I agree with this but providing the Tirpitz can remain intact and close in enough to deliver a torpedo strike would add to the demise of the Yamato I can see one German ship heavily damage maybe sunk but not both of them, just too many guns

Supposing the Bismarck and Tirpitz made it to the Pacific undamaged to engage the Yamato, If you are the German commander how would you attack?

Re: Was the battleship Bismarck really the best of its time?
Hi Kevin, Not sure about it being that close a call between Bismarck and South Dakota, the US ship mounted 12 x16" and was quite heavily armoured, don't forget that she was drafted to Scarpa Flow to take care of Tirpitz if she came out Shouldn't that be 9 16" guns South Dakota. South Dako...

Re: Was the battleship Bismarck really the best of its time?
1942..United States produced better built ships, better radar better firecontrol by what measurements Let me clear that up some, the Us had better battleships with bigger main guns, better AA defense, radar and fire control got better as the war went on, also they US had better horizontal protectio...

Re: Was the battleship Bismarck really the best of its time?
I would say in the early years of the war the Bismarck was the best battleship up until maybe 1942 as the war went on the United States produced better built ships with better radar sets and fire control. The Japanese produced the biggest battleships of all time.

Re: Graf Spee comes out
From what I have read Graf Spee was not quite seaworthy (Still had unrepaired Damage) and was low on ammo it might been able to force its was out but what happens from there with potentially more damage is anyone's guess

Channel Dash
Supposing the Bismarck made it to Brest along with the other German ships involved in the Dash what are the chances of a successful escape under the same conditions and date as the original dash. I would think it would be about the same, but if the British were alerted in time in might set up for th...

Re: If Bismarck had made it to France
I see the Royal Air force giving it plenty of attention, if it can survive that and be in good condition I also see it sitting in there until the Channel dash in which I think it will make it to Germany will maybe some damage due to mines or maybe a torpedo

Battle of Jutland
With the same conditions and each side having the same strength with the exception the Germans at the time introduce wolfpack style attacks with the subs the had available at the time of the battle do the Germans break the British blockade?

Re: What if Bismarck hit Rodney early on?
I think the Bismarck was lost even if it was to hit the Rodney there was too much against it with the KGV with cruisers and destroyers not to mention there was swordfish torpedo planes circling overhead waiting to pounce if given the order to. it was too much if the Bismarck"s rudders were inta...

Re: Plan Z
I see your point with supply ships and oil issues for Germany, something you didn't mention was the aircraft carriers that Germany was to build say they had enough oil and supply ships for 2 separate task forces consisting of 1 carrier, 1 Bismarck class ship, 1 Hipper class cruiser, 1 Scharnhorst cl...
