Also from the same KTB, it is written that at 2000 hours on 16 March, Gneisenau radar device located a battleship of the Nelson Class at 23,800 meters. This was just after sinking the Danish "Chilean Reefer" (1,739 GRT). The battleship was actually the Rodney and Lütjens decided to run away.

The caliber was 15cm (5.9 inches).
I can not check this right now, but I think these guns were to be the same as those used on the Narvik Class destroyers.

The wreck of the Bismarck is 470 nm from Brest.
The Bismarck had been steaming Northeast during the night of 26-27th, therefore, at 2100 hours on the 26th, the distance to Brest was even less.

I would expect the 16"/L52 to require more turret space, barbette space and, if the ammo capacity would stay the same as per Bismarck (120 rounds/gun), given the larger volume occupied by the 16" shells, probably a larger diameter of the main magazines, and thus a slightly increased beam ...
