Re: The Norfolk and Suffolk tracks at Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, you seem to forget that we are having speed, course and tracks of the ships we are talking about, and the bearings now are only used to correctly position among them what we already have, ... with minor corrections, .... mainly due to the fact that instead of using the av...

Re: The Norfolk and Suffolk tracks at Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, you are right, a single bearing cannot give you a position unless you have other bearings fixing a track of a ship given her course and speed. WW himself explained on his report to us how they were able on Norfolk to keep their course based on the Suffolk bearings and tha...

Re: The Norfolk and Suffolk tracks at Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, you are getting my point. I do not trust the Pinchin " large arc " being a possible manoeuvre as we see changing a course of 20° from 240° to 220° course in 14 minutes time, ... mostly because it does not match the 2 declared bearings of 220° at 05:50 and 230° a...

Re: The Norfolk and Suffolk tracks at Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, @ CAG, now you got it right, since you correctly wrote : ... We don't know what course Norfolk was on ... This is by far the most inaccurate input we have, ... in fact I do not trust that " large arc " that Pinchin depicted and the track until 06:00 and soon after, ... and...

Re: The Norfolk and Suffolk tracks at Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, @ all, I wrote and agreed with Herr Nillson to avoid at the beginning to use both the Pitcairn-Jones Plan 4 bearings as well as F.O. Busch book ones. The D/6 and D/7 from Pichin original plot are valid bearings, and they are both respected with the above map. At the end both the 230...

Re: The Norfolk and Suffolk tracks at Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, as I wrote and agreed with Herr Nilsson, first we needed to agree about a group of well known bearings to define the battlefield and that is what we did correctly positioning the warships at certain defined points in time, ... and after looking at the overall result look ...

Re: Bismarck original KTB still existing ?

Hello everybody, @ CAG, many thanks for having provided us more information regarding R.D/F transmission and equipment, ... but it is not a new for us since we already discussed about it time go, ... non one assumed it was a defect free equipment, ... and a tolerance was assumed. Nothing changes, .....

Re: The Norfolk and Suffolk tracks at Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, @ CAG, the German ship track main reference I have used to realize my German ship tracks on my map is the Prinz Eugen official battle map track, ... and you can find it here in : http://www.hmshood.com/history/denmarkstrait/pg_battlemap.htm Obviously I have a much better copy from t...

Re: The Norfolk and Suffolk tracks at Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, @ Dunmunro, thanks, I consider you just like CAG in agreement with us all and now we are ready to start a better analysis of an agreed overall drafted map, were we can try now to improve something as a team. @ Wadinga, the dates may not be in prefect synch for few days, ... but what...

Re: Bismarck original KTB still existing ?

Hello everybody, @ Dunmunro, I remember those data and thanks again, ... of course in this case this tolerances do apply in both directions and for all the R.D/F bearings taken, ... while for the visual it is a different story. Anyway, ... as said those data are what we have, ... and we must play wi...

Re: The Norfolk and Suffolk tracks at Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, very good, I see you are fully engaged on this discussion now. The PoW/Hood correct tracks could have been taken from the Rowell map, ... the second map showed on your link above. It does not take a genius to merge it into " The Plot ", ... in fact even 75 years...

Re: The Norfolk and Suffolk tracks at Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, Sean, ... Rowell map of Hood exploding was submitted with " The Plot" at the same time and inquiry, ... it was enough to use that information. If you notice on " The Plot " the German tracks is showed 2 times, ... estimated and traced, .. both are show...

Re: The Norfolk and Suffolk tracks at Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, you wrote : ... and agree Antonio's seven. Thanks for having agreed about the 7 bearings provided above defining the battlefield. Now I wait for Dunmunro and CAG agreements as well, ... and of course the agreement of anybody else in this forum willing to participate to th...

Re: Bismarck original KTB still existing ?

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, obviously the visual bearings accuracy are depending from the visibility. Obviously the R. D/F bearings are depending on the equipment precision, tolerance and accuracy. In any case those 7 cross bearings are what we have in the most official possible way. They will defin...

Re: The Norfolk and Suffolk tracks at Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, @ Dunmunro, all those trials and exercises can be done after the base agreement when we will move forward. With Herr Nillson I agreed to start from a common agreed base and that is in my opinion the best base to start, even using the Pinchin tracks for Norfolk and Suffolk so they sh...
