Re: Jasper, Schmalenbach and 6 salvos...

The Prinz Eugen open fire time should not be in discussion, ... given the written evidences on reports, ... the fired cartridges on the main bridge and the smoke drifting away confirm that is the Prinz Eugen first salvo. Except for the reports from Lutjens (0552: engaging...) all 3 RN ships, Brinkm...

Re: Jasper, Schmalenbach and 6 salvos...

Hello everybody, @ Alberto, you should not loose time following this type of useless discussions. We have since years the correct information both on German Official available documents as well as on photo available correctly captioned by eyewitnesses ( both Josef Lagemann, the PK photographer whic...

Hello everybody, Dunmunro wrote: " Brinkman states that Bismarck fired first and implies no delay" NO ! and I'm shouting because we have discussed for YEARS now the same imaginary things. Re: Jasper, Schmalenbach and 6 salvos...

Lutjens to Berlin message: "Hood sunk at 6:00 after 5 minuets battle" Photo NH69722 shows first salvos of BS and PG as almost simultaneous ones, as logical as the open fire permission was given by Lutjens to both ships.... Brinkmann (PG C.O.), Jasper (PG 1st G.O.) and Schamlenbach (PG 2nd G.O.) (se...

Re: Jasper, Schmalenbach and 6 salvos...

Hello everybody, ....but we were successful in building an approximate salvo chart that perfectly matches the battle milestones AND the very good Gunnery Report from Jasper for PG (not precise as McMullen's plot, but enough to give precious info and full synchronization with Hood first hit, switch ...

Re: Feindliche Ortung

Leach is being castigated for altering course when under the combined fire of 8 x 38cm, 8 x 20.3cm, 6 x 15cm, and 14 x 10.5cm guns (and after being hit by 3 x 38cm and 4 x 20.3cm shells) and the threat of 4 x TTs. Yet Brinkman (under no fire at all) and Lutjens alter course due to imaginary torpedo...

Re: Feindliche Ortung

The interesting new part (well, at least for me) is, that, according to her log, Prinz Eugen detected and evaded Hood's torpedoes. Has this been discussed before, e.g. can it be confirmed as a false alarm? Captain Brinkmann himself said he observed bubble trails from the bridge of Prinz Eugen after...

Re: Jasper, Schmalenbach and 6 salvos...

Hi Marc, sure, remarkable and very contradictory too (even excluding time shifts). Did PG delay open fire by 2 minutes or 3 and half vs Hood ? "Simultaneous" open fire of BS vs Hood or 30 seconds after ? Did Hood explode after 6 or 7 minutes after her own open fire ? I still prefer to stick...

Re: The Court Martial for the Denmark Strait

What count is that we can confirm that Capt Ellis own autobiography released declarations ( Churchill archives ) were all correct and his memory was fully reliable, as it was easy to realize also by reading what he wrote on the many arguments he mentioned. Capt Ellis reliability is proven and the c...

Re: Location of the ships of the Mediterranean fleet on the outbreak of WWII

I assume you mean upon Italy's entry into the war. This volume in chapters 5 and 6 gives a fair summary of RN dispositions in the Med:
