Re: Feindliche Ortung

Leach is being castigated for altering course when under the combined fire of 8 x 38cm, 8 x 20.3cm, 6 x 15cm, and 14 x 10.5cm guns (and after being hit by 3 x 38cm and 4 x 20.3cm shells) and the threat of 4 x TTs. Yet Brinkman (under no fire at all) and Lutjens alter course due to imaginary torpedo...

Re: Feindliche Ortung

The interesting new part (well, at least for me) is, that, according to her log, Prinz Eugen detected and evaded Hood's torpedoes. Has this been discussed before, e.g. can it be confirmed as a false alarm? Captain Brinkmann himself said he observed bubble trails from the bridge of Prinz Eugen after...

Re: Jasper, Schmalenbach and 6 salvos...

Hi Marc, sure, remarkable and very contradictory too (even excluding time shifts). Did PG delay open fire by 2 minutes or 3 and half vs Hood ? "Simultaneous" open fire of BS vs Hood or 30 seconds after ? Did Hood explode after 6 or 7 minutes after her own open fire ? I still prefer to stick...

Thanks! The interesting new part (well, at least for me) is, that, according to her log, Prinz Eugen detected and evaded Hood's torpedoes. Has this been discussed before, e.g. can it be confirmed as a false alarm? Hood was never in torpedo range. The report mentions that typical sound detection ran...

Hello everybody, northcape wrote: "My fellow deniers, May I make the suggestion to let this ridiculous topic rest once for all, simply by not reacting anymore." the same wise suggestion had been already made twice by a far more fair, credible and "neutral" person here (Paul Mercer  ), but it ...

Re: The Court Martial for the Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, ...I see here is the fact that many persons do not like to accept what has been declared by Adm Tovey , the C in C Home Fleet, directly involved into the Board of Inquiry/Court Martial request from Adm Pound, the First Sea Lord, confirmed by the Official Royal Navy WW2 Historian, n...

Re: The Court Martial for the Denmark Strait

What count is that we can confirm that Capt Ellis own autobiography released declarations ( Churchill archives ) were all correct and his memory was fully reliable, as it was easy to realize also by reading what he wrote on the many arguments he mentioned. Capt Ellis reliability is proven and the c...

Re: Location of the ships of the Mediterranean fleet on the outbreak of WWII

I assume you mean upon Italy's entry into the war. This volume in chapters 5 and 6 gives a fair summary of RN dispositions in the Med:

Thanks.

It's readable via google translation but I'm certain that google has problems with the technical terminology and KM acronyms.

Re: The Court Martial for the Denmark Strait

Of course, in the subsequent signals and in Tovey's final despatches the damages were presented as being more and more severe (to try to justify the run away, that still embarrasses these guys....) So you stand by your claim that the PoW damage report and photos were faked... Do you really th...

Re: The Court Martial for the Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, I can make a list of the more severe damages sustained by Bismarck , while Capt.Leach himself recognized that PoW damages were just " superficial " few minutes after the battle  and even his G.O. had sent him the boy's message "Guns are OK !", but I will accept instead Mr.Wadi...

Re: The Court Martial for the Denmark Strait

Hello everybody, refusing to accept the gross provocation about the Regia Marina and the implicit allusion to nationality (and nationalism) aspects ( forbidden on this forum :stop: ), I wonder whether it is praised in any Navy that the Captain of a still efficient battleship (fact, as per Leach mes...
