You must be really desperate to think that someone can believe the nonsense you are writing" ! :kaput: Play your tricks with someone else . NOBODY (not even the fair "deniers") will support you in this enormity. :stop: Alberto Gentleman: It may be unfair that I have selected this par...

of cowardice (your word, I would have used: "not being aggressive enough") by a Court Martial: even Troubridge was not condemned..... However Troubridge career was logically over.... Bye, Alberto Leach's career was also almost over - killed in action 10 December 1941 by a more nas...

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, you wrote : " The reports I read in the National Archives signed by Wake-Walker, Ellis and Tovey give no indication they are falsified. " This only means that you are not using the tons of post's you have here in since many years with the many Official document...

Re: Prince Eugane v AGS

The one point with this is that the Norwegian campaign had depleted the KM's available ships for the fall of 1940. Only Scheer was available.

Running this as a hypothetical scenario - the Norwegian campaign would still have caused substantial losses and delays.

Re: POW exchange

Unlikely. That character had been involved in previous escape attempts and in the eyes of the Germans was a ''troublemaker.'' He would have far more likely to have murdered by the Gestapo or SS than be set free. ''No military threat'' means not only incapable of fighting but also incapable of helpin...

Re: POW exchange

Generally by ship or by transfer to neutral territory (such as territory under Vichy French control) under the ambit of the Red Cross. Smaller transfers were done by aircraft, using agreed diplomatic flights between the UK and Switzerland and also between the UK and Sweden. These usually involved wo...

Nobody in the RN would be pleased with the DS result, regardless of their view of POW breaking off the action.

Re: Africa's Great Green Wall

More greening on a large scale will increase the carbon sink, so CO2 levels may start to fall back.

However as CO2 is only a trace gas its level overall isn't that significant - the important thing is that there is some CO2.

Africa's Great Green Wall

Starting in 2007 and sponsored by the United Nations, a belt or wall of acacia trees is being constructed along a line in Central and Western Africa through eleven countries on the southern rim of the Sahara desert. The aim is to stop the desert advancing southward and to eventually reclaim large ar...

Re: POW exchange

There were all manner of POW exchanges during WW2.

In some instances it provided valuable intelligence, as did some successful POW escapes.

Re: Prince Eugane v AGS

As with many things regarding the UK, Hitler was rather naive... the British weren't hoping for a rearmed Germany as a potential ally, they were after damage control. The Treaty of Versailles restrictions were mostly dead in their eyes, they wanted a hard limit on naval rearmament that Germany agre...

Re: Political correctness gone mad?

“Unless we act now, not some time distant but now, these consequences, disastrous as they are, will be irreversible. So there is nothing more serious, more urgent or more demanding of leadership.” I view politicians as professional windbags, the above is typical Tony Blair rhetoric. What politician...

Re: Prince Eugane v AGS

The RN had 15 battleships and battlecruisers as at 1 September 1939 and around the same number of heavy cruisers. Under the strict criteria identified the KM was entitled to construct 5 and one quarter Bismarks and the same number of Hipper class cruisers. They actually had four battleships either n...

Re: Prince Eugane v AGS

Agreed, far scarier.

The KM would have done better to have not built the Hipper class cruisers but more of the ''pocket battleships'' instead.
