The aft magazines were emptied, not forward as part of the salvage operation. The forward magazines detonated and broke the hull in half with the main deck collapsing. If the same conditions existed other than Bismarck, I believe the outcome would have been the same! Would have been even a bigger coup when all four ships made it back!

If attacking the GF at the time of the battle it might have made the RN cautious. Would have been better to turn wolf packs on convoys - IMO
