Re: Bismarck construction flaws

@lwd I don't want to chastise you. However your discussions with Karl often look like, that Karl describes a picture frm Chagall and you criticize that the sun is painted in. Wrong color. And when Karl or someone else is showing the picture than you usually claiming this is irrelevant because it's t...

@ Karl
Regarding the claim of the RussIan fighter of shootimg down 2 P-51. You can take Erich Hartman as witness for fighting between theallies. He provoked at least one and observed the fighting.

Re: Question about RPC firing while turning the ship

I believe it"s more than just RPc and FC computer. The computer were analog working and producing constant solutions, however when the ship turns, the deviationbetween tqo solutions does increase. Second also the data input in range and bearing changes drastically. If I'm remember correct, than rang...

Re: Bismarck construction flaws

And of course, development of high powered diesel engines for battleships. Ok, which Navy except KM had Plans for Diesel battleships? Why are tripple turrets better than double? Should the Km use a similar Dp gun like the USNavy which was working properly after the war only? I wonder why nobody que...

Re: Bismarck construction flaws

If one can asume that the artillery capabilities are similarover all ships, than we have only one occasion were we could compare KM and Us Navy. IT WAS THE shooting exere of PG of Baltimore. Paul Schmalenbach mentioned it in his book: shooting exercise with the forward turret group aborded after 5 s...

Re: Bismarck construction flaws

The 9 was a typo error. And the last battle of BS was difficult for fire control because they could not steer asteady course. Nevertheless was Schneider able to straddle Rodney. Would not a lucky hit destroyed the coning tower. Maybe some hits on Rodney whould. And later on KgV would have shown, tha...

Re: Tirpitz shelling New York

No it' s not contradicting. You asume that an outdate 12" can do the same or more damage than the most up to date 14" projetil which would negate ajy improvekents in technology. To the contrary Dave mentions one possibility that make this old batteries completely useless.

Re: Bismarck construction flaws

Honestly 9 guns in 4x2 turrets, combined with the exelent fire control systems, optics and radar gives an excellent package. One needs not only big guns but also the means to get the bullets in the target.
Which could not said from all ships.
