Re: The future of Europe

In the mean time over here you have the right wing media roasting Obama for not having done a no fly zone already. Not quite sure which right wing media you refer to unless its the boogeyman Fox. For all I've seen the lame stream media has given president where's waldo a pass on this. Too busy fill...

Re: Now the dumb Jackass...

Nothing causes more "road rage" than some slow poke in the fast and/or middle lanes on the highway with drivers manuvering to get around them. If a driver can't take the higher speeds either stay in the slow lanes or stay of the highway! As far as lowering the speed limits goes, drivers will still e...

Re: Bismarck Myths

No, reliance on one weapon, whether it be submarines or a battleship, is a fundamental weakness, as it means that the opposition merely have to concentrate on dealing with only the one weapon. What is needed is a combination of weapons and arms working together to create the maximum number of threa...

Re: Expedition Bismarck 2012

As far as I know nothing has been removed from the wreck so far. They left a couple of commemorative plaques in 2001-2002. Jose, That is what I understood has happened and I think it is a respectful thing to do. In the US, if you visit battlefields like Gettysburg there are monuments and markers wh...

Re: Expedition Bismarck 2012

Maybe its me but I see nothing wrong with an expedition to a sunken warship for research purposes as long as nothing is disturbed and it is done in a respectful manner. People visit battlefields to gain knowledge of what transpired. I would put this in the same category!

Re: Battleship guns against land targets

One of the US battleships at Normandy (i forget which one) scored a direct hit on one of the german bunkers. The shell went through one of the Fc plotting rooms killing everyone inside.

Re: Was US participation in WWII superfluous?

I don't think that the US could have avoided being drawn into the war. If not for Pearl Harbor it would have been something else. As for the US participation being superfluous, I too have noticed the views you mentioned. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mine is US involvement tipped the war ef...

Re: Total number of shells fired by Bismarck and straddles

When I was a boy I had an air rifle with a defect in the barrel so the pellets always missed the target no matter how well I aimed. Therefore to correct this deffect, I began aiming a little to left of the target in order to get hits. Jose, Good Point! In early American history that kind of shootin...

Re: Total number of shells fired by Bismarck and straddles

But the one who scores the most telling hits first gains the upper hand - that's what counts in the end. And in the DS, that went to the Germans hands down, no dispute. They had the advantage from the start, based on the British approach, and they used it perfectly. Paul, I think your statement abo...

Re: Total number of shells fired by Bismarck and straddles

As far as Bismarck shooting went at Denmark straits she was defintily lucky. I realize that many people on any forum have their opinions on any given subject. Having read the arguments made by many regarding the hits Bismarck did or did not make on opponents, I get the impression from many that the...

Re: Bismarck in 3D

I only wish there where interior shots as well. To take a virtual tour of the ship would be the ultimate treat for me. The great thing about CAD is that if someone has the time, patience and the necessary dimensional data they can recreate any structure.
