Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Dunmunro, we have agreed to re-construct here in this forum ( I already did it years ago and I am continuously improving it in real time on a very large scale ) the Denmark Strait battle field scenario based on the available and agreed evidence. It is obvious that we have to do it...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, do not even try to tell me that Suffolk did not have the 1 degree accuracy on the bearings. It is enough to read her reports : 0447 (B). Enemy bore 186°, 15 miles, course 220°, speed 27-28 knots and bore 196° at 0456 (B). 0520 (B). Enemy bore 203°, 15 miles, possibly increasing spee...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, since we will be mainly covering distances and mostly the relative bearings taken visually, ... below the 16 sea miles close to the horizon line, ... starting from the smoke and after looking at the enemy warships, ... I think it is wise to see the real situation on board being used...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Bill Jurens, I think we have agreed to use mainly British official inputs for the British own tracks and timings and similarly the official German inputs for the similar German information. In this regard the German open fire timing is more than demonstrated on the German side off...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Bill Jurens, I think a set of agreed documents and consequently set of information to refer to is a good idea. I have used this same approach time ago in this forum to agree about the Norfolk track correct positioning, but with no luck. Now things are changed, and I hope that it w...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, well, I think we are making some progresses here, so lets continue on this path waiting for the consensus to come one way or the other. It is not so important how long it will take, since I had on last 13 years all type of consensus one could have expected, even more than expected s...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, I have produced the situation at 06:00 to be verified : http://www.kbismarck.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8335&start=75#p81348 and I have showed the overall scenario once you correctly place the PG and PoW official tracks using the above reference positions at 06:00, drawin...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, it seems that we are having different opinions about who did use for the first time on a map the surely incorrect distances between Brinkmann and Reimann, but that is OK for me and we can only try to solve this problem finding more official German documents and informatio...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, @ Wadinga, I can easily understand that you like to solve the enigma of Brinkmann incorrect distances evaluation toward PoW written on his map and utilized also by Reimann later on to justify himself with Schmundt. All this has been clearly pointed out by Vize Adm Schmundt on his re...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, having defined the 06:00 bearings among the 4 main warships, the utilization of the Prinz Eugen and PoW own tracks as base reference, and having positioned correctly the Hood track, back we are here with the Bismarck track re-construction following my 2005 work based on the availabl...

Re: Command/admirals bridge

Hello everybody, @ Bracer, the key to realize where and on which warship you are is on the windows shape and look and of course on the first photo you are looking at the Scharnhorst during pre-war ( ship name on the cap ). The second and the third photos should be the of the Gneisenau consequently, ...

Re: Command/admirals bridge

Hello everybody, @ Bracer, sorry, I just responded to Alberto invitation, ... which I liked a lot about that photo, ... without realizing your real request. Easy answer anyhow, that is the Gneisenau taken in Kieler Fjorde during the strong winter on January 1940. You have plenty of the in board and ...

Re: Command/admirals bridge

Hello everybody, @ Bracer, since we are going pretty soon on another thread to discuss about this photo, here you have the correct information. The 105 mm A/A gun barrels taken on the photo are those ones circled in RED, referencing a pic form the original PG Rheinubung film : PG_Rheinubung_stb_side...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, interesting discussion that applies a lot on the 23rd night shadowing effort by the Suffolk. Here I think we can assume we have just one north, the one on the available maps. At this point we should be OK with the 4 main warships position at 06:00 ( common reference point ) with my ...

Re: Bismarck at DS after the second turn

Hello everybody, I do not think that the photo NH 69722 ( Bismarck and Prinz Eugen open fire ) can be now discussed, after we have analyzed it for at least 15 years by now on the own dedicated threads. Anyway, the fact that Bismarck was following the Prinz Eugen is clearly written in Paul Schmalenba...
