Fourteen Super Etendards had been bought before the war, brand new, but just only 5 were delivered with five Exocet missiles before the embargo. They were intended to be used from the carrier 25 de Mayo, but the little carrier hadn´t the power to catapult a fully loaded Super Etendard. So they were...

Ostriker, Sorry to tell you this but the Western Front was managed by officers that still believed in cavalry and infantry charges against machine guns. . No doubt, but that i wanted to say is that, The Konprinz, Falkenayn had no idea to spend less men as possible. They didn't care to send 1,10,100...

I agree with karl, there is too much of political correct in the Cameron's documentary. I prefer those we can see in BBC. I will add that in "expedtion bismarck", we saw some ships who are no english, no german. When we can hear the famous speach of churchill "sink the Bismarck",...

It is a very strange question: "Did the US commanders let the Japanese attack ?" 1- To begin, my personnal opinion, is that: NO! US staff took an enormous risk to let japanese destroying the pacific fleet. Then, there is also people around the world who see consipracy everywhere, the last ...

Ok  The quality of the Bismarck staff should be the theme of another topic. For the Richelieu one, there is nothing of particular. But i spoke of french naval commander in general. As the other (Land, air) french officer in WWII, they had a lack of "offensive spirit". The only one wh...

Im not sure, but i heard that Gneisenau class battleship was not very comfortable. There was no enough space onboard, and when the ship was in harbour, some crew had to be disambarked. Hi, I think, in my opinion, that Nagato, KGV, are most powerfull than Richelieu. I don't understand to see Royal Oak, Richelieu, Yamato in the list of beautiful battleship. :?: And as other, i would replace Yamato by the Arizona.
