Re: 2018 and 2022 world cups go to......

Hi RF. I can imagine they would try to cram in as many mid week fixtures as possible to attempt to catch up. Moving the 2022 WC forward to January of that year may or may not happen - I dont know, its just a rumour that was circulating on football sites. But it must have been hot in Mexico in 1986? ...

Re: 2018 and 2022 world cups go to......

Hi RF.

Sorry for the late response.
If such a plan went ahead, I think FIFA would order an extended winter break for all the domestic football to allow for the disruption.
Hence why I am against such an idea.
The world cup should never have been awarded to Qatar :stubborn:

Re: French Battleships

Richelieu was a beast, I really like her. I think she would have given Bismarck a serious run for her money. Strasbourg would be a serious contender for a Scharnhorst but Dunkerque may be a little thin skinned to compete with either of the twins This is a pretty good book on the French BB's http://w...

Re: 2018 and 2022 world cups go to......

There are now rumours that there will be talks to consider wether or not to move the 2022 world cup forward to January instead of June!!!
That will SUCK big time if that happens!
Dont think FIFA really thought through this politically motivated choice of Venue :stubborn:

Re: 2018 and 2022 world cups go to......

I hope Israel qualify (Qatar apparently dont recognise Israel as a state) Oh and whilst its not my cup of tea no gay fans will be able to travel there (Qatar has laws against that) Well done FIFA for a splendid politically motivated choice of venue for 2022 Makes you wonder where 2026 will be held? ...

Re: Battleship Vittorio Veneto

I think The only modern Battleship a VV came close to engaging was Prince of Wales during Operation Halberd.
If the Prince had caught her and engaged her long enough to allow Rodeny to catch up it could have been a repeat of Bismarcks final battle

Re: 2018 and 2022 world cups go to......

I have no objections to Brasil holding the 2014 cup.
They are the backbone of the world cup - the only nation to play at every tournament.
I also dont object to Russia as I believe they will do a very good job.

But as Karl said, Qatar is nothing more than a political choice

2018 and 2022 world cups go to......

The FIFA 2018 world cup is to be held in Russia The 2022 tournament will be in Qatar. I think Russia could give us a good world cup but what sort of tempertures will we have in Qatar for 2022? I never seriously expected England to get the 2018 cup. The rumours are that our bid never made it beyond t...

Re: HMS Agincourt 1914 (Pictures)

I read somewhere that the wardroom on Agincourt was ridiculously large.
I don doubt it was highly spectacular to witness her unleash a 14 gun broadside but her ability to withstand battle damage worries me.
Not a ship I would have wanted to have been on in a fierce battle!

Re: Differences between Howe/Anson and the first KGVs

Improvements were made to the ventilation system I believe after the heat conditions endured in the far east by PoW's crew Obviously AA firepower would have been increased. Alot of the improvemnets made to this class of ship are because of what happened to PoW. I always thought that PoW was the fast...

A Hornblower movie would be great.
Age of sail drama's are always entertaining.
I believe they axed the TV series because of its high production costs
