Just for the record. How deep was Vanguard's belt?Bgile wrote:Vanguard has more protected volume, i.e. a larger "citadel" and part of that is a deeper belt so less likely to be hit below it.

Irrelevant. The Twins didn't acomplish their mission and Renown did.. And what was the twins mission that they didn't complete in this instance? What mission did Renown complete? Are you serious? The twins were on a comerce raiding mission were they not? Renown turned them back with damage and prot...

Re: SONAR in the ship
Sean, Dave, I have almost forgotten that I have got the German edition of the Koop/Schmolke-book. In the German edition it's "6° Schiffspeilung", "150 hm" and "115 hm". It seems to me there is once again a mistranslation in the English edition of one of their boo...

Re: Obama´s mosque
I want a government that protects the nation and the borders, enforces ALL the laws equally, keeps its hands out of my wallet and leaves me the hell alone. This is a contradiction in terms. The top few percent of wealthy individuals make more money as a percent of the total than any such group sinc...

This is how the russians show their respect for the US "President" http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/president-obama-handshake-snub/1ab40xf9a?q=Handshake&form=msnled It could have been worse. The Russian could have decked him. How would that affect US-Russian relations? That woul...

Re: Bismarck/Tirpitz = most powerfull European battleships
Does the listed volume of the boiler room assume there are no boilers and other machinery in it? Well, hard to say, but these values are the values that were taken as basis for evaluating the volumes of counterflooding. One would assume I think that a torpedo would open a lot more than two void com...

Re: Bismarck construction flaws
I have some observations concerning the construction/design flaws of the Bismarck that contributed to her demise. The torpedo that hit the Bismarck's stern initially jammed both rudders. However, one rudder was successfully unjammed. The ship could then be steered successfully by use of the engines...
