Re: Tirpitz accompanies Bismarck in Operation Rheinubung
I think for this I have to agree with Karl. The English would have sent the Hood back to the Med to keep down the Italian navy and to support the Allied invasions. So, at this point in the war, we (the US) have joined, and we are now able to send our own warships out to protect the convoys. What, re...

Re: What is needed to sink a US Navy task force?
Yes, that is why I said three subs should do it, since it took thirty some torps and quite a few bombs to sink Yamato, which is... well yes has heavier armor, but is about 30,000 tons less in weight, smaller, and didn't have any modern damage control innovations. I personally think the chances of so...

Re: Interesting article on some new German ships
Very interesting my friend... 27kn isn't that bad . I might assume that the speed might increase a few knots as technology or need increases... pesky Somalian pirates

Re: Tirpitz accompanies Bismarck in Operation Rheinubung
I agree, maybe put Marschall in command... He proved himself in WW2 with the Twins. If Group 1, Bismarck and Prinz went about their buisness the way it actually went, exept for a few months later... The scenario causes the British to think the Germans are leaving the Lonely Queen to stay behind and ...

Re: Tirpitz accompanies Bismarck in Operation Rheinubung
I rather like the idea of the Kriegsmarine holding Rhinebung off for a few months, to wait for 2 modern battleships instead of one. I rather like the idea of the Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe working together too, but what's the chances of that (about a 0.25-0.5 % chance )

Re: Obama or McCain - who would you vote for?
.., some in the south object to the thought of a black president strongly, I should know, since I regretfully live in Virginia. My point is that sentances like this are an implied unproven slur on the South. There are in all probability people across the country who won't vote for him because of hi...

Re: Obama or McCain - who would you vote for?
.... It is also dangerous to be an influential black man, especially one in the public eye... Really? At what level? I suspect that driving a car is a greater danger. Really? Are such comments necessary? If YOU had seen any of the debates or other public events where it is actually him talking, I w...

Re: Pearl Harbor: Possible third wave
If Nagumo really wanted to be at war with the US he would have sent that third wave. Wasn't he the one who said "I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant" or something along those lines? Silly Japs, the second lesson you learn at school is never mess with someone who has a reputation for b...

Re: What is needed to sink a US Navy task force?
A task force of atleast three advanced/ultra-quiet submarines, a missile cruiser, a cunning leader, and a whole ton of luck. The subs need to pre-arrange themselves a few miles off and stay deep and close to the bottom. While the task force is busy keeping checks on the obvious cruiser, they sail di...

Re: Obama or McCain - who would you vote for?
Hey guys, first post regretably is in this clouded subject. I am woundering if any of you watched the Debates... I say the first one, the VP vs VP, and bits and pieces of the others. I must say from these Obama and Biden look like the more competant nominees. On the first Debate McCain refused to lo...
