Hello,
Might anyone know the dimensions of the armor plates that were used on the Bismarck?
Reason I ask is that I am currently building a 1/350 Revell Wreck site of the Bismarck and wish to accurately represent the displaced armor belt.
Thanks!

Re: Bismarck Armor plates
All plates are from different size. There are 54 plates on the main armor belt and 30 plates on the upper belt.

Re: Bismarck Armor plates
very interesting. So if I am understanding you correctly, none of the plates of armor used in either the main or the upper armor belt were made to the same size as the plate to the left or the right of them?
thanks

Re: Bismarck Armor plates
Yes, because of the frames behind the shell plating the width varies and because of the deck sheer the height.
The upper armor belts is generally about one deck high and the tween deck and the upper deck have the same deck sheer, but because of the curved shape of the frames in the forecastle the last 5 or 6 plates are getting higher.

Re: Bismarck Armor plates
Does anyone know of a set of plans that show the location of the hull frames so that a person could make a determination of the width of the plates for modelling purposes?
