Hello everybody,
@ Dunmunro,
PoW speed from 05.00 until 06.00 = 29,1 Knots ( sea miles traveled into water )
No new data for Bismarck EHP.
Bye Antonio

In order to honor a soldier, we have to tell the truth about what happened over there. The whole, hard, cold truth. And until we do that, we dishonor her and every soldier who died, who gave their life for their country. ( Courage Under Fire )

Which means that in response to Admiral Holland's order for 28 knots, Hood's Chief Engineer - Lt. Cdr. Terrence Grogan - simply "engaged" the ship's old machinery to full power taking her to a speed that, among British capital ships, was only exceeded in WW2 by the reconstructed Renown and was barely matched by the brand new PoW!Antonio Bonomi wrote:PoW speed from 05.00 until 06.00 = 29,1 Knots ( sea miles traveled into water )

IIRC, Hood ran full power trials in late March 1941 and made 28.8 knots with paravanes streamed and the paravanes were estimated to cost about 1/2 a knot, meaning that Hood was good for about 29.3 knots at the time of her loss.paulcadogan wrote:Which means that in response to Admiral Holland's order for 28 knots, Hood's Chief Engineer - Lt.
