Post by Mostlyharmless »

John Moffat, who may have been the last survivor of the Swordfish crews who attacked Bismarck and who was often credited with dropping the decisive torpedo, has died. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Moff ... y_officer) or http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/12 ... s-aged-97/ for more details.

It really saddens me to learn this. Mr. Moffat was so pleasant and humble in all his interviews and I certainly enjoyed reading his book "I Sank the Bismarck".

He survived Bismarck's AA fire to live a long, fulfilling life. May his soul be blessed to rest in eternal peace.
