Just a note on English.
"Salvo" means ANY number of guns being fired at the same (*) time. And "Broadsides" (during the WW2 period) meant ALL main guns firing at the same (*) time.
( * some navies counted "doubles" [two sets of guns being fired very close to each other] as one salvo, others as two salvos. )
Various navies had different sub names for types of firing, the RN had three pages of definitions ! They did NOT use the term semi-salvo(s).
One should NOT mix up terminology from navy to navy, it makes things both difficult and confusing. For instance, the PoW would NOT have gone to "rapid fire", but to "continuous fire" - they are different things to the RN.
( That is not to say that even in official paperwork unofficial terms didn't crop up. )
