Bismarck funnel cap

Post by Mircalla »

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and want to congratulate you all on such a superb resource.

I have a question which has puzzled me for a while, and wondered if anyone can help?
Which paints best match Bismarck's funnel cap colour, please?
In Warship Pictorial 19 it states the cap should be Aluminiumbronze 16 (RAL 9006), in most of the colour pictures I have seen, it looks simply silver (aluminium) coloured.

Also, the small tubes around the funnel cap rim, are these steam expansion vents or diesel exhausts? Should they also be the Aluminiumbronze colour?

thanks to any one who replies

As Bismarck had no diesels I would go for the steam expansion vents.

I painted my Bismarck´s funnel cap metal grey (almost silver).
