Le Mans 2011: German Audi Victory... AGAIN!!!

Post by Karl Heidenreich »

Le Mans 2011: For tenth time the German Audi beat, as usual, the Frenchie Peugeot as overall victor. The Audi still needs several races to come near Germany's Ferdinand PORSCHE record of victories at Le Mans (16 victories including those of the fastest, most powerfull car in History, the flat-12 917). However it is at the northeast of the Rhine where sports car perfection lies, not in Paris.

Chevrolet's 100 anniversary came good this year with the GT victory of a Corvette in Le Mans. It was a very dramatic moment when the Corvette get the checker flag.

I was told that a big part of Audi's resurgence is a bunch of very talented engineers that came over from Diamler Benz when it was Diamler Chrysler. Audi is the legacy of pre-war Auto Union anyway so an Audi or a Prosche -Audi victory is fitting. I was glad to see an Audi effort come out on top of state run Puegot anyway. They were both turbo diesels instead of gasoline.

Too bad. GM is dead to me anymore since the socialist/UAW/Obama take over. I would have liked to see a Ferrari win a class.

I was glad to see an American amature effort (Robertson Racing) with a Ford GT make the podium in its class.
