While searching for an out-of-print book: "Paasch's Marine Dictionary" (German-English-French) I ran across a bonanza. The Mystic Seaport Libraries has it online. (The 1997 is no longer available and the originals are $100+)
There are other online maritime resource on the site also.

Also, another classic lexicon: http://southseas.nla.gov.au/refs/falc/preface.html
An enormous resource: The Mystic Seaport Museum Libaries

Thanks, Ulrich. I never knew how much archival info the seaport had before!
FYI - Mystic Seaport is about 2 hours drive from where I live. It's a great day trip, especially for the kids with the Aquarium there. A bit pricey, but there is an online purchase program where you can get tickets to both the seaport and the aquarium for a cheaper price.
For those interested in a full weekend trip, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos are right in that neck o' the woods as well.
