The Builder of USN Ships

Post by Ulrich Rudofsky »

Bath Iron Works in Maine and Northrup Gruman in Virginia are the birthplace of many US warships, sort of like Blohm&Voss in Germany.

Here are some links to the CVN 78/CVN 21 Gerald R. Ford.....and the Norfolk yard

Were the companies and shipyards controlled by Henry Kaiser involved in warship construction, or were they confined to merchant ships?

Kaiser is famous for the Casablanca-class escort carriers, all built at Kaiser Vancouver. The first commissioned on 8 July 1943; the last commissioned on 8 July 1944. FIFTY aircraft carriers in one year.
