Kreigsmarine vs British Home Fleet
Re: Kreigsmarine vs British Home Fleet
Indeed. For instance if the Germans managed to sneak their BBs into the med without taking Gibralter then there is considerable likelyhood that Home fleet would be much weaker than the historical case as most of the BBs would be detached to Gibralter. Of course then the Axis would have to sneak back out again to engage Home fleet ....
Re: Kreigsmarine vs British Home Fleet
If Gibraltar becomes the focus point for the British, then the position of Spain and Vichy North Africa becomes highly relevant in respect of their airfields and their use by Luftwaffe and Reggia Aeronautica. This will be to both attack the British ships and to protect their own.

Why not have the Japanese Fleet joining the German-Italian Fleet in European Waters (That's almost as unlikely as the Italian Fleet being willing to leave Italy undefended by sea or being able to get out of the Med) and then the whole USN Fleet can join the RN and there can be a second Jutland in the Atlantic... A very long way into fantasy this, in my opinion.

Never liked this thread because the result is obvious any way you see it... and the way to see it is historical.
