Missouri is larger and newer. All else being equal, she's be the likely winner.

Hello, the Missouri is faster and has bigger guns but the Bismarck could have won at short range in a Guadalcanal battle style.

Sergio - Other than possibly (probably) having better optics, I can't think of any features that Bismarck had that were superior to what Missouri had. BB63 was several years the newer ship, and her design benefited from much real world experience that Bismarck's design did not have.

Yes, but you never know. If Bismarck hits Missouri first anything can happen. The Hiei was heavily damaged by inferior American cruisers in Guadalcanal.

Yes, we can spoke only in probabilities. There's no way that two Japanese battleships should have been bested by a cruiser-destroyer force.

It could have been like the case with the Graf Spee the Japanese might of thought they ran into something bigger and turned to run, but in a stand up fight they would have blew the cruisers out of the water. :?:

Don´t forget the cruisers fired at (in naval terms) point blank range and the Japanase battleship was rather thin skinned.
