Yamato & Musashi aircraft hanger deck?

Post by synthesim »

I wonder if anyone can please tell me, as I have studied the pictures of Yamato and cannot tell,
were the crew able to stow floatplanes or aircraft belowdecks in any kind of hangar bay,
either intact, or with some degree of disassembly? (and if so, to what degree?).
Or did the planes have to remain exposed and situated up on deck,
and-or fixed to their catapults at all times?
Thank you.

There was a hanger bay for stowage of up to seven spotting planes.

Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
They stood and Earth's foundations stay;
What God abandoned these defended;
And saved the sum of things for pay.
