IJN vs. US Navy

hey

wat do u think of this szenario???

it's the most unlikely szenario, but let's imagine it happened!

the battle takes place just after Pearl harbor, and involves the whole IJN and the whole US Pacific fleet
(in the style of the battle of Jutland)

Carriers can be involved (makes it more interesting)

I think under this conditions and with most of the USN Battleship line in the bottom of Pearl Harbour: a great victory for the IJN .Also the carrier force of Nagumo was a lot for the force of Halsey.At this stage of the war the IJN carrier force had not egal enemy.

December 1941-May 1942: the whole IJN against what remains of the USN but with the following and very important change:

Admiral Yamaguchi instead of Yamamoto: IJN Victory, even with Nimitz leading USN. If you have Yamamoto and his intrincate plans, then, who could know?

In this scenario of surface fleet battles the Japs should win, but there again on paper they should have won at Midway - there is always the unexpected and the naval equivalent of 'sods law.'

In any case even if the US surface fleet was completely wiped out their submarine fleet would still sink most of the Jap Navy and mercantile marine (even if the Japs followed up by invading and occupying Hawaii) whilst the surface fleet would be rapidly replaced. In such a scenario the Americans would be forced into a 'Japan first' policy instead of concentrating on Hitler, and either Adolf would be incinerated under a mushroom cloud in Berlin around 1946 or the Russians would reach the Pyrenees chasing what was left of the Third Reich, as I think there would be no D-Day.
