Where is this picture from?

Post by naggingfeeling » Sun Mar 11, 2012 2:13 pm

I found this picture and I wonder if anyone knows where it's taken?

I have an idea, but since I am watching this on a tiny screen I cannot decide yet.

Any guesses?

This is interesting. I'm sure I have seen this picture before, many moons ago. I just can't place it.

As we see Admiral Hipper in the wake of Tirpitz (where the photo is taken from) and most likely a pocket battleship further aft it could show the german battlegroup leaving Altafjord on their sortie against convoy PQ 17.

Could it below The bridge of Kvalsund (before it existed) ?

Couldn't find any other good pics to support my wild guess though..

Nobody have any clues, or does not want to make qualified guesses?

I believe Thorsten already answered your question.

Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
They stood and Earth's foundations stay;
What God abandoned these defended;
And saved the sum of things for pay.
