The End of the Invincible

The battlecruiser Invincible blew up in a furious fight with the Lutzow and Derfflinger at Jutland. Her successor - one of the victors of the 1982 Falklands war is now suffering a much less glorious end - an end meted out to so many great ships before her.

This story and its pictures are hard to stomach...be warned! :(

Seems like a fitting end to a ship that has outlived it's usefulness, in terms of bang-for-buck (or pound). What else are they going to do with it? Scrapping beats getting sunk in action (dead sailors) or becoming a maintenance pig that consumes dollars (pounds) best used elsewhere... and it provided employment for scrappers. Steel producers prob bemoan all that extra steel depressing prices, if it makes a dent there
