Modern Pirates

Post by Gary »

When someone mentions "pirates" we all think of renegade sailors with a cloth on their head, an earing and a parrot on their shoulder.

Most dont realise that there is still piracy going on in the 21st century.

Its more of a problem than you might think

Modern pirates

Arming isnt the answer

What is the answer then?

Even Chinese coast guards have been known to do it.

Beware of Chinese Coast guard cutters
God created the world in 6 days.........and on the 7th day he built the Scharnhorst

I was under the impression it was less of a problem than a few years ago and was restricted for the most part to certain lawless coasts.

Knowing how important trade is to the Chinese, I'd espect them to quickly deal with a problem like that, probably involving a firing squad.

Ships having to travel in the affected areas sometimes equip themselves with fire hoses, sound generators, and the like. I think it's still a small enough problem that local jurisdictions have to be relied on to deal with it.

Looks like a job for a Q-Ship - give the pirates a taste of their own medicine!
