Ek1 Awardee Franz Halke
Ek1 Awardee Franz Halke
Hi Chaps,
my name is Paul(waffenamt),
could anyone please help me out urgently with this Iron cross that i have the
opportunity to buy.
Its claimed to be an unmarked EK1 direct from Franz Halke`s relatives in Northwest England?
The picture that comes with it doesn`t match the pic shown of Franz in your Crew member section?
i will attach pics for your perusal.
Thanks to all in advance.

Sending it back is probably the smart thing to do.
This forum has a good share of experts and intelligent contributors but that does not make it cliqueish. If you browse through some of the threads you will see willing sharers of knowledge, photos, and other materials. You sent out 4 notes in the same day. A little patience is generally rewarded.

You need something like free http://photobucket.com/ where you load your photo from your computer, and then you can copy and paste the URL into your message here. Welcome to the clique

See Josef Statz "Schlachtschiff Bismarck", Verlag Tebbert KG, 1994, page 173:
http://kbismarck.com/crew/survivors.html
From left to right: 1. Herbert Seifert, 2. Herbert Langer, 3. Helmut Keune, 4. Franz Halke, 5. Hans Joachim Bornhuse, 6. Fritz Mathes, 7. Ernst Hepner, 8. Herbert Blum
So he would be the first man, left front row. That looks more or less like the photo in the crew list. Statz has also a couple of other photos in his book that also identify this man as Halke.

The junta headed by Galtieri would be a very good example.
