What happened to the wreck of the SMS Emden?

Does anyone know what happened to the grounded wreck of the SMS Emden on the Cocos-Keeling islands after November 1914?
Was it broken up for scrap or was it consumed by the sea?

If you google the AWM (Australia War Museum) and search SMS Emden you will find a large number of photos of the wreck and other items in the possession of the AWM.
One of the photos shows a 10.5 cm gun of the Emden located in Sydney at the time of the snap (1955).
I believe I have seen this item stored in Canberra at one of the locations used by AWM to store items not currently on display.

I know this question is 5 years old!
But I have been compiling my grandfather's memoirs and he mentions that on his return voyage from the South Pacific at the end of WWII on the HMS Indomitable at the end of 1945, they passed by the Coco Islands and they saw "the wreck of the German WWI Emden still lay strewn across the coral reef".
Not sure what happened to it since...

I believe the wreck was cut up by a Japanese firm in 1962, bloody shameful is all I can say
