Hello all,
I'm working at a project concerning battleship ordinance.
Can someone tell me what was the standard fuze delay for the following shells:
Italian 381mm L50 APC mod 1934-1943
French 380mm mod 1936
French 380mm mod 1943
Also, I know Japanese type 91 and type 1 shells had long fuze delays, between 0.05 and 0.4 sec.
Does anyone know according to what they varied...? Were the 1941 shells, for instance, equiped with shorter delays compared to the ones in 1944.. ?
Thanks,
Alex

Just a guess but it could well be that the 8" type 91's had dthe shorter delays and the battleship ones the longer.alecsandros wrote:...Also, I know Japanese type 91 and type 1 shells had long fuze delays, between 0.05 and 0.4 sec.

Ran accross this document on German Fuses:

So the light bulb went on and I found this info on the Japanese ones. Since it's a PDF version of a scan it doesn't copy and paste well but you'll probably want to read a good portion of it anyway:

How about the Italian and French shells?
Re: FUZE DELAYS 380MM GUNS
I couldn't find much on them. Although the Richeleu did use ammo made in the US with US fuses I believe. Not sure if that's what you are looking for though. You might want to ask over on the axis history board. There are a couple of Italians who post over there and are usually quite helpful with this sort of thing. Several French as well come to think of it.
