german Gkdos 100 Krupp formulae

Post by Thorsten Wahl »

I could reproduce the Krupp formulae
for all major german guns 15; 20,3; 28 c28; 28 c32; 38;40,6

and made a excel spreadsheet
at the german marinearchivforum
original thread
http://forum-marinearchiv.de/smf/index. ... 611.0.html

file is here
http://forum-marinearchiv.de/smf/index. ... tach=40256

Spreadsheet contains
4 worksheets
-Data as the name says, only data

-Durchschlag - pentration at given angele and impact speed
-Geschwindigkeit required speed against given thickness and angle
-Graf plots a gfx for a given thickness

input date green formatted cells
listbox for selection of weapon vs armor

example
SK 38 c34 KC SK 38 vs facehardened armor
SK 38 c34 Wh SK 38 vs homogenous armor

angle 90 degrees means perpendicular to plate
angle 0 degrees means paralle to plate

any hints and comments welcome

Hi Thorsten,
I presume the face-hardened and homogenous armor thicknesses mentioned are German KC n/A and Whotan, respectively ?

(if yes, the amount of penetration against, let's say, Japanese 1916-1925 FHA would be at least 10-15% bigger. Qualitative aspects of armor plate can influence penetration quite a bit)

Thanks, but how to gain access to your file? Unfortunally direct link didn't work for unregistered users and I don't know German.

Can you explain what means the term "penetration" in this case? Is it complete penetration or "holing"?

Complete penetration, shell behind armor and fit to burst (Heilbleibenkurve)

I have sent a email to jmrico with the excelfile. I hope he will attach the file here.
