Great pic's, definately like the Leo 2A6.

Were those Patriot SAM batteries as well?

They are actualy Leopard 2E, the Spanish version of the 2A6 with greater armour protection.

I'm not a great fan of military parades, as to me it is synonomous with dictatorship and military rule. Tanks, ballistic missiles, goose stepping soldiers.....Idi Amin/Hitler/Stalin/Kim Jong/Saddam Hussein. Oh dear.

I love them, but I don't get to see them very often because we almost never have them.

That is the benefit of living in a country where the military behaves itself and are genuinnely respected for what they do. And not living in a country where the military rule to serve their own interests, and are feared and despised by the ordinary people.
In Britain the armed forces are generally held with respect and esteem because they are professionals, we have, like the US, no tradition of military rule but civilian control and accountability through a properly elected parliament, backed by Queens Regulations. Having said that, our armed forces are involved in two conflicts that are very unpopular and controversial in Britain, for which the politicians and not the military are blamed.

Parades are nice, I think. In the last half of the century they have been considered as by products of dictatorship but that´s not all true. And the goose step, guys, is not that awful for formal ocassion at least.

Jose,

Who are the fellows marching with the Mauser bolt-actions? A bit archaic, but still nice to see!

My guess is they are cadets and the rifles aren't functional.
