Every country is plagued with an enormous number of acronyms. Occasionally, some acronyms have double and triple meanings. My uncle (a career officer in the k.u.k. and republican cavalry, and then the Czech and German cavalries) thought that the two wars were lost because of abbreviations! :lol:

LHD = landing ship, helicopter dock, amphibious assault ship (improved LHA = Landing ship, Helicopter Assault, amphibious assault ship (general purpose).
Unfortunately, LHA also is Local Hour Angle. LST = landing ship, tank, also means Local Sidereal Time und Latrine Service Truck.
