Count von Luckner and Seeadler

Post by _Derfflinger_ »

Has anybody read Blaine Pardoe's relatively new book "The Cruise of the Sea Eagle" about Count von Luckner and his raider Seeadler during WW1? I picked up the book from the US Naval Institute some months ago, but just pulled it out to begin, hopefully, a good read.

I will be interested to read Pardoe's telling of the story vs. the classic book by Lowell Thomas of 1927, some of which is supposedly hype, and Hoyt's later book of 1969.

It was my first reading of the Lowell Thomas book while a kid in Junior High School back in the 1950's that set the hook for my interest in the German navies of WW1 and WW2, and in particular the many stories of the merchant raiders. I was fascinated!
