Anatomy of the ship

What do you think about this series? Are they worth? Specially the Bismarck one...

Don´t bother with Bismarck´s, it is the worst of my 4 volumes, the others (in order of detail) are Dreadnought, Hood and Warspite.

I just received the one I ordered: Yamato.
It´s very nice if you´re looking to build a model. Very usefull.
I would like more about the inner part of the ship: photos and diagrams of the boilers, the turbines, the magazines, etc.
But it´s worth the money.

Is it there a book about Bismarck that could help in this case?

Best regards.

Hi all

Karl, if your looking for details on the interior arrangement of the Yamato, check Hobbylink Japan, they have some books with 3D graphics of the construction and interior of the ship. Go to their website and just do a search.

I would say that the anatomy books are generally written for the mass market being marketed by various international "presses" such as the US Naval Institute. However, an excellent and well-researched 2 volume set on the BISMARCK is by Josef Kaiser: the original and the (his) model. I think that the anatomy book and Mr. Kaiser's two, little known books came out, with many, many delays, at about the same time. A drawback is that the Kaiser volumes are in German, but that is not a limiting deterrent, since the multitude of pictures speak for themselves. I would recommend the Josef Kaiser works without reservation. http://www.kbismarck.com/books/

Ulrich -

Do you know roughly what the cost is - purchase price plus shipping cost to the US, for Josef Kaiser's two Bismarck books? I think it is time I get them!

Thanks.

You can obtain the two books from these places. Both are very reliable and you can ask them questions in English......

The books are E 39.95 ea. ($55!) I don't know the exct postage, but it would be about $20, I guess.
