That was The Bounty which also starred Anthony Hopkins, Bernard Hill, Daniel Day Lewis, Liam Neeson, Laurence Oliver, and Edward Fox. In total, an impressive cast and well done and acted.

I did remember Gibson and Hopkins but do not recolect Olivier nor Bernard Hill (one of my favorites) nor Edward Fox. Admiral Hood? I must have been drunk not to remind about them.

That`s a very good list, indeed. Stalingrad calls a lot for my attention. "Kursk" is a great movie, I saw it when a teenager doubled in spanish, can you imagine that? Great, with great battle scenes that, before it, I never saw in any Hollywood film.

Will switch any time Flags of Our Fathers for Letter from Iwo Jima. Also it will be good to consider Japanese war movies, at least two of them: Kagemusha that belongs to the Shoguns`era and Yamato regarding that cute little vessel that Japanese decided to build. Good effects.

Talking about that, I have seen that lately, despite the great technological advances in war movie making in Hollywood, we lack still of seeing some Tigers in action. In Saving Private Ryan we saw, briefly, one and then in "Band of Brothers" it is always present as an unseen evil, like a movie monster, but is rarely seen in action.

I like your list, man, really. The important feature is that it is very european. In that case Blue Max could be considered as also Waterloo. Charge of the Light Brigade will feature great amongst them too.

True! True! How easily is forgotten such a good movie! Specially for it`s lack of a moral story: just a bunch of guys who want to retire rich, and from both sides as a matter of fact.

Don`t think that nowaday liberal Hollywood will want to remake it. Who can be Clint Eastwood, Telly Savalas or Donald Sutherland (well, Kiefer Sutherland can be in place of his dad)? Because I can´t see Brad Pitt or Collin Farrel in the role of a men.

Maybe, but to be honest I never really liked Kelly's Heroes, I'm afraid the comedy was not quite on my wavelength.

As for Stalingrad, there was "Enemy at the Gates"....I know, I know...it sucked.

"Midway" wasn't toooooo bad, but even as a kid I was nitpicking it to death for accuracy. I'd love to see a new movie about Midway based on the book "Shattered Sword", even though computer graphics would necessarily be used quite heavily.

"Pearl Harbor" was horrid, but "Tora, Tora, Tora" was quite well done.

Any second in which Rachel Weisz stands in front of the camera that movie deserves to be seen. Sorry...

Of course that "Midway" is not a masterpiece but it wasn`t that bad. I saw it when a school boy and it impressed me a lot. And Charlton Heston is, like John Wayne and Ronald Reagan, a real American heroic figure. A movie based in "Shattered Sword", done by a good producer, damn good screenwriters and (maybe) Wolgang Petersen as director could be excelent. Nothing wrong with CGI if the spirit is that of accuracy (and epic proportions).

Pearl Harbor is not a movie, is a horror story beyond the wildest imagination of Stephen King. "Tora, Tora, Tora" is a very good movie, indeed. It is serious and tries to be objective. Good combat scenes, too. Nothing to regret.

That one particular scene with Rachel was worth the ticket price.
Don't get me wrong, I watch "Midway" at least once per year, but that's the battle I've studied since I built my first model ship (CV-6), and the historical inaccuracies just drove me nuts as an 11-year old when it came out.
As for "Shattered Sword", I would have no problems with CGI if done well. It's getting better by leaps and bounds every year.
