Between Human and machine - WW2 control systems

Post by dunmunro »

This is a lecture by David Mindell:

He is the author of Between human and machine: feedback, control, and computing before cybernetics. It is not a lecture specific to WW2 naval firecontrol, but it touches upon that subject.

.....It's a great book. Mindell has a uniqe talent for explaining the operation of highly complicated technology in in a simple expository manner easily graspable by the layman.

Yes, I really like the book and refer to it often, especially as my university has made it available on-line. However, Mindell raises questions about the Mk37 system that he doesn't answer which is a bit frustrating.

..... Mindell pretty much starts from the beginning of analog fire control computing. Go to books.google.com and search under author david mindell. A limited preview of the book will come up for your inspection.
