Brooklyn class cruiser documentary

This is actually not a bad film despite being wartime propaganda:

Thanks!

However, it's a Cleveland class cruiser. :)

Well, I dunno. There's a short scene where a 5"/38 open gun mount is shown. Perhaps it was shot on several different ships.

I don't remember the open mount. Are you sure that wasn't a practice loading machine? There is one in the film.

Here is my reasoning:

The ships of the Brooklyn class were all commissioned prior to 1940. The ship in the film is commissioned in 1942.

Only the last two Brooklyns had 5"/38 twin mounts, and they only had four; two on each side. The one in the film had the Cleveland class' six twin 5"/38 mounts.

The Brooklyns had five 6" turrets and the one in the film has only four.

OK, so that's a practice loading machine... I'll have to take another look. Thanks.

Yes, it is rather in the style of a Pathe film.
''Give me a Ping and one Ping only'' - Sean Connery.
