Lest we forget, Sink the Bismarck was based on the 1959 historical novel Hunting the Bismarck by C.S.Forester. Forester made no pretense about it being anything more than a novel.

Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
They stood and Earth's foundations stay;
What God abandoned these defended;
And saved the sum of things for pay.

Yup...I have CS Forrester's book. The movie does basically follow the "novel" - some of the dialogue is almost word for word. There is only 1 hit on Bismarck in the DS, but..there is no fictional destroyer sinking.
