Yes, excellent material. The Bismarck news reels on the first two links posted by Ulrich have been taken from the "Schlachtschiff Bismarck" DVDs. See here:

Good material
Ciao all,
very good material .
By the way did everybody realize that the last link on Ulrich post is about Scharnhorst, Gneisenau and Adm Hipper operation Juno.
They show June 1940 action against the HMS Glorious, Acasta and Ardent.
You can clearly see Scharnhorst and Gneisenau guns in action and the smoke on the horizon of the sinking British ships, Glorious sinking is easily recognizable.
Than the sinking of Orama and Oil Pioneer by Adm Hipper and destroyers.
About Jose' last link, that is the famous movie about Bismarck.
Well on that only thing I can say is that there is absolutely nothing right, everything is wrong.
Ship sailing direction, relative ships positioning, their course and side they are firing ( everything is reversed ).
Germans are running the path the British ships did and firing to starboard Bismarck is on the position Hood was.
British are running the path the Germans did and Hood is running the path of Prinz Eugen ahead while firing to port
The only good thing are the main guns loading mechanism images.

Re: Good material
This is the first time I have seen this film and the thing that strikes me is the very, very selective editing. No chance in this film of the British fighting back. Scharnhorst getting a tin fish in the stern not the sort of material Dr. Geobbels would want.Antonio Bonomi wrote:By the way did everybody realize that the last link on Ulrich post is about Scharnhorst, Gneisenau and Adm Hipper operation Juno.

Editing and cutting films
Ciao all,
YES, you are right.
That film is censored edited and cutted, sequences are moved around to create an idea of a winning battle for Scharnhorst.
Same was done for current PG Rheinubung film in fact no scenes were German ships are damaged are visible.

The Nazi newsreels were almost compulsory weekly watching. The voice was always very dramatic and the music "heroic". They were shown before the feature film and even an 8 year old was warned by his mother not to believe it all I think, that having watched American and British WWII (and recent Irak war) news films, "creative editing" is and was practiced by all. Remember "Shock and Awe"?

Don´t worry.
I found how to capture video from google and youtube:
1. First you need the Mozilla Firefox
2. Second you must download from the Mozilla Firefox the youtube downloader
3. You must download the FLV player from Mozilla
4. Then you must deactivate the files extensions from your Window explorer
5. From the Mozilla explorer you look for the youtube or google address and when you find it activate the downloader.
You have it.
Now I have in my PC the Bismarck Kiel video.
