Royal Navy at War - A Sailor's View

Post by paulcadogan »

Hi all,

I've just discovered a series of documentaries posted on Youtube in January 2017 that feature some great footage of the RN in various phases of the war and thought I'd share.

I'll just post the link to the ones I've watched in its entirety so far - the first features colour footage.

Royal Navy at War - a Sailor's View - in colour
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfOFCjIdLRQ

Royal Navy at War - a Sailor's View - King George V Class battleships
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvBfTEPUu24

One of the interesting yet disappointing facts as told by the narrator is the amount of film that was destroyed or discarded by censors, leaving just fragments of what was actually recorded.

There are several episodes that will come up, so you have hours of watch time..... Enjoy!

I bought the same footage on a 5 disk DVD, about 10 years ago. It is great stuff.
