Gun fire

Hi there,

I was wondering if any one of you know how to make a realistic gun fire simulation on a modelship.

I've seen a nice example on the model of Tomas Vnoucek from the Czech Republic on this site. This seems to be a system with a actual explosion from the barrel.

I recently got the movie "sink the Bismarck" as a gift. In this movie all the models use gun fire simualtion. This seems to be just a smoke simulation from the barrels but it works nice.

Can any one tell me how to make such a device or can adres me to some one how might know?
